Skills of Observation

Today we spent the day rearranging picture frames and getting our scrolls framed to hang on the wall. We are in the SCA, and awards often come with a medieval looking scroll to commemorate the award. I took our family picture down from above the couch. It's two years old and we are hoping to replace it in the next month anyway, but I thought the space would display some of our scrolls nicely. I placed it on the floor by the coffee table.

Kenny (4 years old) comes to get me and says "Mommy, you weren't married in this picture." I was stunned to say the least. I asked him how he knew and he pointed out that I wasn't wearing a wedding ring. (We got married about 6 months after the picture was taken).

It's so funny to me that I could place a bowl of cereal in front of him and he couldn't find it, but he can notice a detail on a photo like that and make the cognitive leap that we weren't married. He never ceases to amaze me
